Vanille Simeon, founder of The Maitri Movement, is a E-RYT Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, a French woman, a massage therapist, an acrobat, a former successful manager in the Arts business... amongst many other things! Passionate about body and mind connection and movement therapy, she took her first certification in Vinyasa Power Yoga.
Along the years, she completed her training with numerous continuing education programs including a life changing Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Biff Mithoefer, various spiritual retreats in the Buddhist tradition and trained in diverse massage techniques and functional movement. Certified Partner Acrobatics (this practice is also largely known as acroyoga), she is always looking for more explorations and ways to play with the body to empower hearts and minds.
With more than 1,000 hours teaching experience worldwide and hundreds of students over the years, she has explored many different ways of teaching in different contexts. From a Yoga & Meditation Center in Cambodia, an Ecolodge in the Maldives, to Yoga Festivals and various Yoga studios in Denmark or in France, she has developed and gathered a vast repertoire of tools to suit all levels and backgrounds.
Newly relocated in Portugal, Vanille was born in France. After nearly two decades of traveling the world, she is also fluent in English and Spanish (Portuguese on the go).
In her own words:
'While exploring a variety of practices focusing on body language and self-expression through movement –contemporary and classical dance, partner trapeze, and biodanza–, I discovered yoga in Indonesia 15 years ago. Captivated by the therapeutic power of mindful movement, I first fell in love with the creativity and the flow of Vinyasa Yoga. I later discovered the deep meditative YIN long-holds, and the powerful and playful Acroyoga & Partner Acrobatics practices.
Inspiring teachers and tutors fed my journey during my long stays in Asia, Australia and several countries in Europe. I progressively quitted my job as an Arts business Manager to start teaching full time. Along the years, I certified as a Power Vinyasa yoga teacher -Yoga Alliance RYT 200, Partner Acrobatics, and YIN Yoga with Biff Mithoeffer.
Body work also came in as a tremendous tool in understanding body mechanics and body and mind connection! I studied massage therapies in Thailand (Thai massage) and in France (Swedish Deep Tissue, Californian style, hand reflexology, Kobido Japanese facial techniques and pregnant women massages & OsteoThai fundamentals).
Drawing techniques from many traditions, I like to combine them with organic sensitivity to meet the needs of each individual or each group. My practice and teaching style are following one simple direction: inducing peaceful but yet powerful transformations.'
